- [Zach Blas](https://feralfile.com/artists/zach-blas-7g4) — Toronto, Canada

Zach Blas is an artist, filmmaker, and writer whose practice spans installation, moving image, computation, theory, and performance. Blas engages the materiality of digital technologies while also drawing out the philosophies and imaginaries lurking in artificial intelligence, biometric recognition, predictive policing, airport security, and the internet. In recent projects like “The Doors” (2019), Blas imagines a new psychedelic age fueled by AI, nootropics, and tech culture. In “SANCTUM” (2018), a sex dungeon-cum-detention recasts security and surveillance through BDSM. Blas has exhibited, lectured, and held screenings at venues internationally, including the 12th Berlin Biennale, de Young Museum, British Art Show 9, Tate Modern, Walker Art Center, 12th Gwangju Biennale, the 68th Berlin International Film Festival, Matadero Madrid, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, ICA London, Van Abbemuseum, e-flux, ZKM Center for Art and Media, and Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo. His 2021 artist monograph Unknown Ideals was published by Sternberg Press and Edith-Russ-Haus für Medienkunst. Blas is an assistant professor of visual studies in the Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto.

- [*particle group*](https://feralfile.com/artists/particle-group-tof) — California, U.S.

*particle group* is a collective consisting of Amy Sara Carroll (poet/scholar), Ricardo Dominguez (artivist), Diane Ludin (new media artist), and Nina Waisman (interactive sound artist), with a number of others flowing in and out (e.g. Marius Schebella, Pierre Galaud, and Césaire José Carroll-Domínguez). Invested in the artivist (art + activist) and paraliterary, the group mixes mediums and metaphors to produce gestures that forge a subversive relationship with the newest frontiers of technological science. Drawing upon varied traditions of performance art and poetry, dance, movement studies, and critical theory, *particle group* seeks to datamine transperversal tales of the global Matter Market, to re-tell and re-own them in ways that unhinge the vested interests of venture sciences’ speculative fictions. They challenge us to think small, really small, even smaller, at the miniscule scale of bits, atoms, neurons, and genes. *particle group* has exhibited and/or performed at ISEA (San Jose, CA), the House of World Cultures (Berlin, Germany), the San Diego Museum of Art (San Diego, CA), Oi Futuro and FILE (Brazil), CAL NanoSystems Institute (UCLA), the Medialab-Prado (Madrid, Spain), the e-Poetry Festival, (Barcelona, Spain), and SOMA (Mexico City, Mexico).
- [Shu Lea Cheang](https://feralfile.com/artists/shu-lea-cheang_tez-ihl) — Paris, France

Shu Lea Cheang (Chinese: 鄭淑麗) (she, her) is a Taiwanese-American artist and filmmaker. Since the 1980s, as a multimedia and new-media artist, she has navigated topics of ethnic stereotyping, sexual politics, and institutional oppression with her radical experimentations in digital realms. She drafts sci-fi narratives in her film scenario and artwork imagination, crafting her own “science” fiction genre of new queer cinema. Cheang is regarded as a pioneering figure in internet-based art, with her multimedia approach at the interface between film, video, internet-based installation, software interaction, and durational performance. Her project “Brandon” (1998–1999) was the first piece of web art commissioned and collected by the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Her work employs film, video, net-based installation, and interface to explore “...ethnic stereotyping, the nature and excesses of popular media, institutional—and especially governmental—power, race relations, and sexual politics.” Cheang has written and directed the feature films I.K.U., Fluidø, and the upcoming UKI. Cheang received a BA in history from the National Taiwan University in 1976 and an MA in Cinema Studies from New York University in 1979.
- [Sofia Crespo](https://feralfile.com/artists/sofia-crespo-zmh) — Lisbon, Portugal

Sofia Crespo is an artist with a huge interest in biology-inspired technologies. One of her main focuses is the way organic life uses artificial mechanisms to simulate itself and evolve, this implying the idea that technologies are a biased product of the organic life that created them and not a completely separated object. Crespo looks at the similarities between techniques of AI image formation and the way that humans express themselves creatively and cognitively recognize their world. Her work brings into question the potential of AI in artistic practice and its ability to reshape our understanding of creativity. On the side, she is also hugely concerned with the dynamic change in the role of the artists working with machine learning techniques. She’s also the co-founder of Entangled Others Studio.
